6 steps of the website development and design process
Phase one: Information gathering
The first phase in developing a successful web site is gathering information. Many things need to be taken into consideration at this early stage including the technology path, business goals and target audience.
Phase two: Planning
Using all the information gathered from phase one, we then time to put together a plan for your new website. During the planning phase, we will decide what technologies should be implemented. Elements such as what CMS, applications, payment gateways and booking systems.
Phase three: Design
Target audience is one of the key factors taken into consideration in this phase. As part of the design phase, it is also important to design/incorporate elements such as the company branding to help strengthen your identity online.
Phase four: Development
We start by first developing the homepage, followed by a custom structure for the interior pages. On the technical front, a successful website requires an understanding of front-end web development. This involves writing valid HTML / CSS code that complies to current web standards, maximizing functionality, as well as accessibility for as large an audience as possible.
Phase five: Testing and delivery
We now start the testing and validation phase. This includes the functionality of forms or other scripts, as well last testing for any compatibility issues (between different web browsers) and ensuring that your website is optimized to be viewed properly and with high rankings.
Phase six: Maintenance
Your website will need regular updates and maintenance, including new content to help your ranking and engage your clients to come back. The website will need regular backups and most importantly revision updates for security. This will take 2 to 4 hours every couple of months.
